LETTING GO - IN THE TIMES OF SOCIAL DISTANCING

Updated: Aug 18, 2020

It's been over a week now since we are in a quarantine mode. Everyone is home. Work from home, to all the work in the home, to play at home etc, everything has come back to ground zero - at home.

There is both lot of time and no tine in hand. But yes, staying at home for so long, has been worthwhile for the "food for thought". Every chance, whether I am involved with kids, or working up the chores, has resulted in introspection. Its giving an opportunity to ponder over all things emotional and relational.

And what better than sharing all those thoughts, that have been stirring me inside out.

So, here's listing out the things I feel we must be trying to "LET GO" at this time:

▪︎Worrying about what has happened in the past.

This can be events or your relationship equations with people.

▪︎The need to be in control of everything.

Control your own actions, your words, your behavior.

▪︎The idea of a "perfect life".

There isn't any. It's all subjective.

▪︎Fear of the unknown.

Do as you are required to do. Follow what must be done now. What's coming is not in our hands.

▪︎Worrying what others think of you.

Who cares. Whoever matters, thinks well of you.

▪︎Excuses.

Let go of the excuses to workout.

Let go of the excuse to work on that painting.

Let go of the excuse to pen down a letter.

▪︎Your dependency on your comfort zone

Pick up something you thought you could never do.

▪︎Failing to care for your physical health.

This is the time. Get up and take charge of your own health. No one else can do that for you.

▪︎ Grudges

Go call that forgotten friend.

▪︎Inhibitions that are holding you back.

If you always felt inhibited by minimalism, why don't you give it a try . We are all under a resource crunch, and this can be a great time to practice minimalism.

▪︎Worrying about things you can't change.

Make the changes inward. No one else is in your hand.

▪︎ Clothing you haven't won in over a year.

Please give that away. Asap.

▪︎The belief that the grass is always greener on the other side.

Trust me it's not so. Take up all those beautiful homes on Instagram, they are not gorgeous perpetually. There is a hidden mess that you cant see.

▪︎Any possessions that don't bring you JOY.

Let go. What is the use of keeping them for that time when you might need them. If you don't like them, you will never need them.

▪︎Over scheduling your life

Go slow and simple. Take a break. Nothing is running away.

▪︎Placing your parents, partner, kids on an unrealistic pedestal.

They are what they are. They are their own individuals. Don't push them into unrealistic zones.

▪︎Trying to keep everything beautiful.

Take care of yourself and your loved ones. If things are messed up around the house, that's fine. It will all come around.

▪︎Old things you can donate or sell for cash.

▪︎ Overindulge in buying habits.

Buying that set of cushions you really love, can wait. You have enough. Rearrange your linen cupboard. You will know. You have enough.

▪︎ Clutter in your home

Time to de-clutter. One place at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself.

Time to sit back with a cup of tea and make your own list of LET GOs. Let go of anyone or anything that doesn't add value to your life and that doesn't give you joy.

Its time you moved on!!
